Hey guys does anyone have any intel on what design these Berger’s may be and approximately what year they were manufactured in? Got them on a trade.

My guess is they are the standard 105 boat-tail bullets versus the newer VLD or hybrid.

I don't have any good info on the age based on the packaging. Perhaps others can add some info there.
My guess also on bullet shape. All the ogives measure the same from box to box so I can assume they are from the same lot. I washed them and will moly em and see how they shoot

I can't say that I've ever seen boxes of 80 count from Berger.
I wonder if they're from a Beta test lot ?

I bought some 65 and 68 grain Bergers in boxes like that, about 10 years ago. The seller said they had been “sitting around”, so I’d say they’re more than ten years old.

Having shot many boxes of 105 BT Match, VLD's, and Hybrids (obviously not Hybrids), my guess because of shape is standard BT. Great big HP on them...

The first 105 VLD's came in the 80 count boxes.

I'm guessing that size box, which were what the 62/65/68 grain bullets were shipped in, is the only ones Walt had at the time, & only 80 105's would fit in them.

I'm also guessing they're from at least the 90's if not older.
Thank you! Wonder how they’ll shoot vs new production

I've got 5000 105's from the 80's that I was told were prototypes Walt sent to shooters he met for testing and people he was teaching to make bullets. Similar boxes and definitely hand swaged not the new machine swaged and are VERY consistent bullet to bullet and they are all the same lot#

I got 10 boxes of those a few years ago. 105 grain. Moly coated them. Shot them out of my 6mmAR 8 twist for 600 and 800 yard slow prone. Jammed them about 5 thousand and they worked great. I heard that they would occasionally poof out of a turbo improved 7.5 twist. I had no problem.
