Unfilled doe tags this year....

Great pic Preacher! Filled 3 doe tags this year and have 6 days to fill my buck tag. Getting cold up here (Minnesota) and as I have grown older, climbing into the tree at less than 20 degrees has become a lot tougher. Liking ladder stands more and more. Working up motivation....or at least trying too. Forecast is to be above 30 degrees some time this week. I will be out with the bow.

Looks like my cams. 15 /1 ratio. Think I have 2 bucks but lots of does.
I have eight different bucks on the camera but they seem to have just been passing through. Never stayed for more than a week. A few show up once in a while but not for long. I'm hoping they'll stay once the food starts getting scarce. My biggest problem is them first getting whacked on the nearby roads. This is urban hunting.

Ya the second Rut started here in Michigan about the first week of Dec. Had a few nicer bucks but short lived. Then it ended and heavier snow came in bringing bucks back in. Hoping to arrow one decent buck or fill a doe tag. Either way, it's sausage, salami and venison hot dogs. Good luck

Sometimes they Rut so hard they lay up for a week or so. I guess they get wore out. It happened this year here. We didn't see them till the end when a small second Rut came in. The guy down the road that has tame deer predicted it. He has cameras all around his deer. He said from the pics and videos outside the fence it was going to happen. Matt

Sounds about right. We have alot of pressure here and they go into deep cover. When they need fat reserves back that were expelled during the physically exerting rutting activity, they eventually return. Unfortunately sometimes it's after all seasons are closed. That's what makes it hunting and I for one am glad. If I can't fill my tag, neither can the guy next door. That buck gets a pass and is a bigger buck next year. Most of the time, I see plenty of bucks but find myself passing on them for bigger bucks or a big doe for the freezer. Michigan isnt a big buck state for the most part. It's the love of the hunt that sparks the fuel for me. 6 days left and I'm certain I'll hang my tag on a big doe.
