An interesting theory regarding fliers can be found in Chapter 6 of Harold Vaughn's book "Rifle Accuracy Facts" It is called "Barrel-threaded joint motion".

Lynn's post on setting up a ladder test sounds good to me. Just want to insert a word of caution about shooting in calm conditions, mirage will kill any ladder test unless you are doping it very well.....and that can baffle even the best of shooters. Be prepared to repeat a ladder test until you can be absolutely confident it means something. Then go shooting with full confidence that if a problem shows up IT IS NOT YOUR LOAD.
