Un-painting an action

So... a few years ago I bought a gun off a fellow, and over time parted out most of the rest. Kept the receiver around because I figured I could use it for something eventually. Well, that time is here, and there's just one little problem.

The guy painted the action, inside and out. Not Duracote or Cerakote, from what I can tell, just... paint. But its everywhere - and flaking off at the contact points where the scope rail sits and where the action sets in the stock.

Whats the best way to get rid of this without damaging any critical surfaces? I've got access to a bead blaster @ work, though the local gunsmiths probably have a finer grit available.

Try brake cleaner.

acetone will dissolve it. Use an old toothbrush to break anything stubborn loose with the acetone.

Paint stripper. Aircraft grade will take off anything.

That was not what I meant, but I can see how it could be construed...

I have one in similar shape. When it comes time to build it I plan to use paint stripper. Patience. let is soak. Should be fine but will take any other paint off. Don't do your trigger.
