Ultrasonic cleaning question

You guys who are using ultrasonic cleaner for brass, are having issues with high friction when seating bullets? I hear this can be an issue with US cleaning brass. If you are not, what solution are you using in your cleaner? If you are having these issues, what are you doing about it? Id like to pick up an US cleaner for brass, but I don't want it to mess up my neck friction, or if it does I want to know that there is a reliable method to fix it. Thanks a lot for your help!

Can't say that I have had any problems. I use a citronox and water solution. I only use .002 neck tension, so seating problems have never been an issue

I tumble my brass in corn cob media for 2-3 hrs. after ultra sonic cleaning. It makes bullet seating nice and smooth again. If I can't maintain 2-3 psi on the hydro press I'm not happy. I do the same thing after annealing.

I do the same as Barry. After all steps are complete I will tumble for a few hours in dry media to help with smooth seating.

I've been using a drizzle of hornady sonic cleaner and a sprinkle of lemishine dish powder. The brass gets clean in 15 minutes ....way faster than anything else I've used....and it feels a little more slippery to the touch than before.

Using a 1 litre bullets.com cleaner with hornady brass solvent. It doesn't get the brass as clean as the stainless media thumbler does. There is just the right amount of carbon left in the necks. I'm using 1 tablespoon of solvent per 600ml with 30 minutes heated cycle.

The stainless tumbler on the other hand takes everyone thing out. I haven't found a good solution to adding carbon back either other than re-firing.

I'm going to try the RCBS solvent next. The hornady cleaner while initially expensive does last a long time.

Mason,

Try running 4-0 steel wool on a brush through the necks to remove stuff. Makes tension/bullet insertion consistent without having use a neck lube. Otherwise, use "Shout" on the outside of the cases to remove the Imperial Wax. Spray on, stir for a couple minutes, clean off with some "Dawn" and at least two rinses of plain water.
