Ultrasonic cleaning formula...again

My ultrasonic cleaner is on it's way.

Here is the formula I am going to use for 1 gallon:
50% white vinegar/distilled water
6-10 drops of detergent
2 tablespoons Lemi Shine
Run for 20-30 minutes, until clean), rinse in hot water.
1 tablespoon baking soda in 1 gallon distilled water.
Run for 5 minutes, rinse and dry.
Does that sound about right?

I am going to use plastic drink cups instead of glass beakers. Can I set them on the bottom of the tank or should I use a rack?

Bill

DO NOT set anything on the bottom of a US it will slow down the ability to do the job right. Same thing with plastic over glass, the glass works better than the plastic will..
20 -30 minutes seems like a long time, mine are usually done at about 10 minutes with the Citronox....

I'm playing around with using citric acid for a case cleaning solution. Still early days but I'll post more when I have a recipe right. It should end up much cheaper than vinigar or Citranox.

Bill,
Thanks for starting this thread.

I read the 6mmBR article on ultrasonic cleaners, and bought the same model they used.

It cleaned bore brushes and old rifle parts, but not case necks and primer pockets.

A year went by.
Someone gave me a few hundred pounds of dirty cases and a vibrator cleaner and lots of media.

I have been vibrating for a long time and the inside of the necks are still dirty.

So yesterday I bought the vinegar, Lemi-shine, detergent, and baking soda.

I make a bundle of cases with a rubber band to bind them.
Within one minute I have the bundle cleaned on both ends.
Then a dip in the sink with baking soda and water.

It is so easy!
