Thanks to all who contributed their opinions to my original post a few months ago. Here is where the project stands right now:
The Barnard P action came and looks amazing, it is a large, heavy piece of steel. I bought a standard palma contour Krieger 5r from Third Generation Shooting Supply with a 1-10" twist which should finish at 30". After getting the action and barrel in hand, I was looking hard for a stock that I liked. Bruce and Mac at MT Guns had a McGee F-TR stock with the bedding block and short front rail waiting for my call. Concerned about weight, i had a simple rubber butt pad put on. I have several McGee stocks already and patience is not one of my qualities. The stock shipped right away and it looks and feels great. I have a friend finishing the stock right now. I shipped the action and barrel to Randy Gregory from Accuracy Unlimited in Medford, Wi for threading, chambering and installing the trigger. I plan to shoot 185 LRBT Bergers and maybe the 155.5 if they show promise.
I will keep everyone informed as everything gets assembled. I am really curious about what the package will weigh when finished, both before and after the optics get mounted.
