UBR - Strategic Edge-Chapel Hill TN 10/28/17

I arrived at the Strategic Edge complex well before first light Saturday morning and was not even close to being the first one there. We do love this sport. At match time (8:00 AM) the temp was around 40º with an occasional light mist and wind about 5 mph.
If my count is correct we had nine bodies and twelve rifles competing today. It was a light turnout, but not really unusual for SE. There were some decent scores at 100 in spite of the tricky wind but when we moved out to 200 the wind really picked up and the scores showed it. We had four GAs 500 or over with Mike Neville shooting best at 506. This was out last match of the season at SE and I want to thank Tony Shankle for making to available to us and doing everything possible to make us welcome and provided everything we needed to hold quality matches.

We will be shooting the last match of the season in our area next Saturday at Two Brothers Rifle Range. I hope to see many of you there.

Rick- must a shooter join UBR in order to compete in their sanctioned shoots? And if not, does the non-member get credit for any record(s) set?
There is no membership! Kettlefoot in Bristol will be holding 9 matches next year..

In UBR matches the membership is associated with the range which pays an annual range fee and $2 per shooter for each match. Anyone can participate and their scores are recorded. Shooting in a specified number of matches per season qualifies a shooter for the SSOY award in the class he chooses to compete in. Also, one must shoot on at least two different ranges to qualify. That's the short and simple answer. You can read the UBR home page for more or contact me.

Simple and affordable for anybody. Thanks guys.

That's the way it was designed. Most any rifle a newby shows up with will qualify in one class or another. Those old Remington bench rifles in the back of the safe are excellent candidates for Modified Class. The rifle I currently shoot in Modified is an ancient sleeved 722 in a Shilen Raygun stock. It has been rebarreled in 6 Beggs and frequently scores a higher Grand Agg than Custom and Unlimited. Like Casey Stengle said "you could look it up".
Seriously, it's a great game.
