UBR- Dry Branch-Dixon Springs TN

Although the sun shone all day, the temp was in the upper 40's and the wind probably never got above 10-12 mph, today was about as tough as we've had in the year we've been shooting at Dry Branch. Phillip Gregory texted me on the way home and reminded me that it was a pretty bad day when no one shot a 500. As the scores show, no one even came close. But with all that we still had a good time, it beat working. Much appreciation to Terry Balding who joined is all the way from Wisconsin and Vlad & Ivan Parpura who came up from Birmingham for their first UBR match. Thanks for joining us and we hope you will join us again when you can. We started with 39 rifles, but Danny Hensley and Steve Jaynes had to leave early due to some health issues Steve was having. We hope he gets better quickly. Special recognition to Eric Leonard for some fine shooting on a tough day.

We'll be shooting here again on April 4th, which will most likely be a 300/200 meter agg. Hope that many of you can join us. I also hope to meet some new folks at Kettlefoot next W/E.

It was a tough day for shooting but I enjoyed it and it was great to see such a well attended match. Nice seeing all the faces, both old and new ones there.:)
If I keep shooting that poorly I will take golf up again!!! ;-) The wind just wore me out, I did gleem a couple of nuggets of knowledge from my mess so that was a plus.

Do those dimples keep the wind from moving the golf balls, even worse than bullets, though? ;)

Nice turn out Rick. Good shooters in attendance and not a single 500. Conditions must have been tough.
Well, to be honest about it, 500 is a very good score and difficult to get most days. One becomes spoiled when he does it regularly and probably needs to be humbled now and then. The forecast was for 5-7 mph winds and that's probably what they were if you discount the 5 or 6 gusts that blew over the target frames. It's just that it seemed to change directions about every 10 seconds or so. Yes, turnout was excellent and if it continues I'll have to either recruit more volunteers or start discouraging attendance. I was whopped on Sunday morning.

I certainly meant no disrespect by my statement. I hope it was not interpreted that way by you or anyone else for that matter. It was more of a commentary on what must have been poor shooting conditions since a number of folks in that crowd are quite capable of shooting 500+.

No offense taken Jimmy. You were quite correct. Conditions were as difficult as anything I've seen in a while. I may check back through last year's scores and see if any were that bad.
