Twist??

I've got a 244 Remington barrel, not Remington manufacture) with no barrel information. I need to know the twist and I've put everything I've got down the bore, jag, brush, slotted jag, and still can't get it to follow the twist. Is there any other way to determine the twist on this barrel. I want to rechamber to 6mm BR but I really need to know the twist so I can have it re-chambered with the proper bullet from Mike Ott for my Encore

With the situation that you are working with, the best thing to do would be to have a gunsmith assist you in determining the twist, and then go from that point.

You would think it would not be slower than a 12 twist but it could be anything. If you only want it for hunting and shooting up to 87gr bullets it should be fine with any twist it just depends what you want to do with it. n If it is a faster twist you can still shoot the light bullets in a 6mmBR the 55gr bullets stand up through 9.25 twist 243 factory ammo and guns. Just decide what you need to do with it i have a 6mmBr cut to 22" for hunting han i shoot it back to 300 yards with 55gr bullets for hunting and have shot them at 600 yards at targets and shot well under moa aiming above the target frame with an 8X56 Kahles scope. I would have it fitted if the rifling is good and see what it shoots well.
