Twist Rate Accuracy

Has anyone seen any data on the variability in the manufacturer's stated barrel twist rate vs the actual twist rate as measured for those barrels?

The button manufacturing process is highly refined and most top manufacturers like Broughton and Hart have proprietary methods to insure consistency. Im not sure that it even matters. Most 7mm barrels come in either an 8 or 9 twist for example. And either twist is just fine. So what difference is it if one comes out anywhere between the two say 8.2343?

Cut rifled fans always use the old Boots Obermeyer quote

"Anyone can pull a button through a barrel"

I'm not sure that this is a good argument for cut rifling. Button rifling is a less complicated process that is less dependent on craftsmanship and may leave less room for human error.

I'm a fan and use both. Just food for thought.
