Twist for 6.5x47L with 130 Berger/JLK

What seems to be the best twist for the 130 Berger/JLK bullets in 6.5x47L at 600 to 1,000 yds.

I built a 8.5 twist to shoot the 130's and it seems to work well.

I test at 200yds. I shoot competively at 600yd and 1000yd. F-Class and benchrest. My shooting partner shoots the same twist and was the Missouri 2-gun 1000 yd state champion 2010.

Mine is an 8 and I shoot the 130 Berger up to 2850 fps without issues out to 600. I think many of the guns I have read about in 6.5X47 are 8. The .264 twist charts I have show that a 9.5 will work for 130s, 9.0 for the 140s and 8.0 for the 140-160s. I like the 8.0 twist.

Since I have an 8.5 twist barrel, I was hoping it would work OK.

I have an 8 twist and a 9 twist. I have shot the 9 twist down in the teens temp. wise with no issues. When I rebarrel I will use a 9 twist from my side by side experience.
Your 8.5 should work fine.

Anyone want to share their load data with 130 JLKs in their 6.5x47L? I finally got some after waiting for almost a year!

I am currently shooting 43.5 grains of Ramshot hunter in mine. Shoots in the low .2s. 42 Grains of H4350 works really well too. Doesn't seem to matter what primer I stuff behind it Fed and CCI shoot good. Guess I will have to let the Chrono decide which primer I run!!
