Twinned B&Ls?

Hi Folks!

As many of you know from some earlier threads here (https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/seeing-history-through-a-spotting-scope.4027159/) and over at RimfireCentral (https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1215267), I’ve gone down a spotting scope rabbit hole over the past six months.

And the latest discovery is this twinned set of Bausch & Lomb Balscope Sr. spotters:

I have no idea whether this is a one-off, made by someone with machining skills in their spare time or whether this was actually manufactured and sold to the general public.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks!
Dave

Nice people at that range. I suggest you call them, send the pic, and chances are that they'll put you on the trail --if not actually name the person who made them.

I received this private message on the subject:

Hi, your binocs are a one at a time project, i probably know who built the bracket , nice job. B&L did market a factory unit in the late 1950s, 1960s , good looking unit. Bracket was made by Meichner Co. , Boston , B&L had a contract to let Meichner market them also. Anyway you have a nice binocular.

Does this Meichner Co. still exist? A quick search is not turning up any current references.

Thanks!
Dave

I've seen similar more recent set ups like that, called Big Eyes. Used a set on a LR hunt for whitetail and LOVED them.. They had Spacemasters in a dual mount.
