i built these two rifles at the same time, one i gave to my shooting friend as a retirement gift. he named them twinkies because they came out of the same package and looked alike. they are budget builds using Remington actions that have been adjusted and tuned to produce nice spent brass for reloading. they are 6 xc , the barrels are pac nor 8 twist, 3 groove super match. reamer came from Dave Kiff and produced a perfect chamber, i actually borrowed it from a friend. the triggers are Jewell and on mine a CG Jackson 2 stage that i removed the safety from. the wood came from Calico Woods, i have had it for about twenty yrs. it was blem seconds because of checks or knots, still nice to look at. rough inletting was done on a Bridgeport, finish inletting was done with prussian blue and chisels, no cnc or dremel tools were used. bedding on the stocks is a v block in the front and a radius pillar in the rear. the magazine block is pillar bedded into the stock and does not touch the action. i used bisonite to bed the rifles, and accuraglas to bond a 3 in fiberglass dowel into the grip of each stock for strength. finish on the stocks is minwax spray fast drying urethane. both rifles took took three weeks to complete start to finish. i also built the rest during the heat of the summer.
