Turning tapered case necks

Do you mean taper to the OD, or neck thickness variance?
If your necks were turned, and after fireforming there is now a taper to OD, did you also measure a taper to thickness?

Many cartridges/chambers hold tapered necks, so this needs to be clarified.

Mike,
Yes the necks were turned`cleaned up~. The brass has been reloaded about 7 times. When I say tapered-the necks slowly get thicker going from the end of the case to the neck shoulder junction.
Also i took your advice. I sent my .284 die to JLC Precision and 8 fired cases. I haven't got it back yet but can't wait. I am thinking of sending my 6mm Remington die now.

OK, I got ya. So you've been FL sizing & trimming, moving brass upward into the necks. Now you have a donut condition.
I'm sure someone will suggest that you inside ream the fired/unsized necks.
You might be able to anneal necks, FL size the necks, and re-expand them to your turning mandrel. The annealing, to null out springback variance from the donut & hopefully fit the mandrel full length.

I've never run into the problem myself, because I don't FL size anything to cause it.
But I don't happen to shoot a 284 either.
The JLC will help you a lot.
