turbo v3 converion

I haven't personally, but Tony Harper has real world experience with the modifications. He posts here occasionally, and I am pretty sure if he sees your thread title, he will chime in.
I have a V3 that was purchased before the mods came out and have no complaints about the bolt lift, but that action was smoothed out by Jeff Paterson when he did the build.

is there a contact for Jeff patterson

Had anyone done the conversion on the v3 turbo. If so did it help with the bolt lift. Thanks
I have a V3 that Tony Harper built. He added the bolt modification that is now standard on the newer V3's.
You might do a search; he had a couple threads about this work a couple of years ago.
I have no complaints/issues with the bolt lift.

prowler, Don is correct and I did the search, but it's on Benchrest Central. March of 2023 he opened a thread on that board about the (then) new modification kit from DiOrio. I will send Jeff's contact info via PM, assuming you haven't got already.

Really appreciate it.

If not mistaken, I believe it boiled down to modest angle change on cocking ramp, good polish on same, lighter spring.
I’d bet a fair improvement just with either lighter spring or removing a couple coils, something you can do without going nuts….little $, and tough to screw up.
Since I have a Penrod 10X 3 the spring deal helps to the point you hardly notice between a 2 or 3 but mine also has the Wilkinson bolt collar in 4140 that has improved ramps as well.

The above tells a good story about 3-lug actions. I have had two Stiller Tridents, and the one Turbo V3. If I could go back in time I would have bought a V1 instead of the V3. I still would have had Patterson do the build though. There is no performance advantage to the 3-lug actions.
