Tuned TX200 springer is back......

And it is great. Trigger at 8oz., like breaking an icicle. Cocking force reduced 25 percent. Shot it today indoors at 25 yards. First two 5 shot groups measured in the middle 3s. Last group was a .121. Tuned by John Thomas Airguns in Thomasville Pa. Can't wait to get outside to 50 yds. No cases to prep, no cleaning required, no reloading. Price for 2 hours of fun. About .25 cents. And....You will learn bench manners.

What scope did you end up putting on it ?? As for the breaking
an iciclle !! I have one that breaks like a 3" thick icicle.....
What caliber and grain of pellet, and how much velocity does your
model work with ?? Any felt kick, or more like a popcorn fart.....LOL

Yes, more details please! You've got me thinking I need to dive into the waters on a premium air rifle.

Ok, I will give you a few numbers, I am not a numbers but a results driven shooter but here is what I have. Gun when new shot about 960 fps. The current averages for 20 shots with H&N Field Target Trophies at 8.65 grains are 815 fps. Standard deviation is 2.21 and extreme spread of 4.68. Fpe is 12.78. John Thomas initially talked about a tad less energy but when I told him I was most interested in 50 yd we decided to go just a bit north of 12 fps which is where It ended up. The average trigger pull is 8.4 oz but is so crisp it feels like half that. I have a Hawke 4x12x44 SF scope on it. The entire shot cycle is so smooth now you almost don't feel the gun go off.
My whole goal was to end up with an accurate rifle that only required a handful of pellets. Nothing else. I believe I have achieved that. Compared to how this rifle performed from the factory is nothing short of amazing. John can be contacted at 717-873-5128.

Jeff....., I have this Mueller 40x56 side focus Target dot. I'll put
it at a price that your eyes will bleed. Maybe cheaper if your wife
brings more of them blue berry muffins to the spring matches.

Lol, I will see what I can do about muffins for a UBR match. No promises though, she rules the kitchen. We did have a decent crop of blue berries this past summer.

After you are able to conduct the 50yd testing, a comparison vs factory performance will be interesting. Currently I'm still on the fence for getting my RWS54 tuned.

Please post up some 50 yard targets when you get it dialed in. My TX200 has a Vortek PG4 full power kit in it, at 25 yards it'll shoot groups about 1/2" outside. I haven't figured out 50 yards yet.

It will be a while for 50 yds. Expecting up to 12 in of snow tomorrow night. Have you noticed a real decrease in group size by lubing pellets? I am curious. The airguns groups seems more interested in velocities and the accompanying ballistics than the results they get from shooting targets. I realize in field target there are some power limitations but everyone puts up numbers. I want to know groups, scores, hits. I don't get it. Tell me your shooting a 1/2 in at 50 yrds in good conditions, now thats what I am looking to do with a springer.

I’ve noticed no difference in group sizes with lubed pellets and only a small increase in velocity. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to consistently shoot 1/2” groups at 50 yards.

Great air rifle. I opted for an HW97k, but it was a difficult choice between that and the TX200. Although it will never replace my powder burners, it's backyard friendly and gets used a lot more often than the Savage and the 1911s.

1/2 inch 5 shot at 50y not likely. That's why they keep springers and pcps separate in competitions. My air arms pcp will shoot less than 1/2 at 50 with zero wind. By the way, springers dont like being benched like a centerfire does.

Well, you might be right but that's is my goal.I shoot center fire free recoil and am very close to it with the springer. I do shoot off different bags with a different filler. Only my left hand lightly touches the pistol grip. Other than that I set it up just like I do a center fire bench gun.I started this after reading numerous posts on airguns forums saying the TX200 comes from the factory tuned. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you have not shot one properly tuned you have no idea the difference. I realize why pcps and springers are seperated, that is part of why I do not have interest in a pcp. When tested by the tuner he shot pretty much a small hole at 35 yards. It's a challenge, I will keep you posted.
