Tubb Nosering Tool for Bullets

I really wanted to purchase this and emailed Tubb about it a while back. However, I'm not willing to pay that price. It'll be a matter of time before Frankford or someone else produces something similar for less.

I am certainly not one to scrutinize and reread contractual agreements as I see most of them to simply be BS written by lawyers who convince themselves that they know more than we do.

in exemplum:

3. RECORD INSPECTION

A. LICENSOR shall have the right, upon reasonable notice, to inspect LICENSEE’s records, documents and material in LICENSEE’s possession or control with respect to the subject matter of this Agreement. LICENSOR shall have free and full access thereto for such purposes and may make copies thereof.

B. In the event that such inspection reveals a breach of LICENSEE’s obligations, LICENSEE shall reimburse LICENSOR for the costs arising from said breach and costs of such inspection.

Now, to clarify just a little:

I've had the great pleasure of having several conversations with David over the last many years. He has unselfishly offered a significant amount of helpful information in our discussions. I wouldn't say we are friends, merely passing acquaintances. I have always respected David for his dedication to our sport and his significant contributions on many levels.

I have yet to read any legitimate scientific discussions which support the addition of the 'nose ring' as being a real and dynamic improvement for shooters. So my being drawn into an agreement which calls for non-cooperative 'inspections' is ludicrous. I wouldn't sign anything which contained this concept ever. David and his legal staff have slipped a gear with this idea and I see failure as being eminent.

I don't ever wish failure intentionally on anyone, I merely express my own opinion as to how this particular idea shakes out. I know for a fact that I will not be a participant.

I have no dog in this but I think I understand why he has to do it this way.

First of all, the nose ring tool from my understanding is a tool that cuts a ring around the bullet nose to make it more fragile to expand with more dependability. More specifically, to initiate expansion when shooting prairie dogs. There may be other benefits of nose rings, but the issues remain the same.

I am guessing his lawyers, (and I would have the same concerns) have advised him that if the tool is used to alter another manufacturers bullet, and there is a problem, he is going to be liable.

Hence the "sale of License to use" and "Licensed Products" in the agreement. The "Licensed Products" are the nose ring tool and bullets purchased from him. No others. And so the inspection clause makes perfect sense.

From David's website:

The creation of the Nosering application was a direct result from hunting experiences of which many excellent impacts “Ran Off” as the result of a nonexpanding DTAC bullet which has virtually no catalyst (other than hitting a bone) to initiate repeatable expansion. This resulted in experimentation using several different approaches with a goal of modifying these very accurate bullets in a way so as to create decisive expansion upon impact.

There were other benefits from cutting a Nosering on a DTAC bullet. These include increased uniformity of the drag coefficients not only during supersonic flight but also subsonic velocities.

Our feedback data speaks for itself; Not only does Nosering make your DTAC bullet deliver better shot to shot drag uniformity , which results in your vertical groups becoming smaller, but it also allows you to initiate expansive qualities. Takes a great target bullet and makes it a fantastic hunting bullet.

The DTAC with its Closed Nose (pointed tip) will show better shot to shot drag uniformity which will translate into smaller vertical group(s).

For a target shooter this means your DTAC group(s) will become flatter since your specific lot # of bullets that can be characterized as brothers and sisters will after a Nosering™ react more like identical twins. A Nosering will result in the bullet BC spreads being cut in half.

The Nosering tool allows the hard bullet jacket tip to fail due to stress fracturing on impact and which is driven into the lead core of the bullet. This initiates dramatic bullet expansion.

Warner Tool offers the option of receiving their solid bullets with the Tubbring cut into their design.

TUBB RING MODIFICATION AVAILABLE

This is a small ogive modification licensed by David Tubb, that theoretically adds stability to transitional flight.
Price: $0.20 per bullet.
