TUBB 2000 ??? Accuracy?

I have been thinking of buying a TUBB 2000 as a milti-purpose rifle,NRA shilloette, Long Range, Benched, even Varminting).

The ability to swap barrels on the same platform is appealing to me, but I wont invest in the Rifle if it is substandard, compared to Palma or F class guns) for long range shooting. I know people have won 1000 yard Comps at Camp Perry with the TUBB, but it is not the same as Palma or F class comps from what i understand.

From reading on this forum it seem that there are some shooters who have Rifles in .308 that will shoot .25MOA at 100-200 yards benched. Im not sure the TUBB is one of those guns. How do you feel the TUBB 2000 would stack up against other Rifles in the same cal,Primarily 308 and 6mmxc) Benched?

I will of course shoot 6mm xc in addition to 308 if i get a TUBB. I know 6xc the primary round shot in the T2K and thats why i posted this in this particualr forum.

Any input you have on the T2K's accuracy would be great.

Im not looking to be a serious competitive shooter, but I live near a range set up for NRA Shilloette with a 1000 yard range as well. Id love a gun that can do it all if possible.

Thanks

According to NRA Silhouette rules you can't use the T2K for silhouette shooting. Although most Match Directors will allow you to informally shoot it but your scores wouldn't count.

I dont necessarily plan on competing, but thanks for the info. Do you know how the TUBB would stack up against a custom benchrest rifle in the same caliber?

It'd probably get thrashed, in an aggregate match, average of multiple targets) simply due to it's stock design. You could modify it somewhat to suit, but for the better part of $5k, I don't think I need to pay more to modify anything. YMMV.

I have shot 1/2" groups at 200 yards with my T2000 in 6br. It is a little hard for me to benchrest the rifle because of the stock. I do not think accuracy is an issue with this rifle. By its design, it is intended to be shot using a sling for all position except offhand, standing). I have not looked for one, but they may have a stock that is made to accomodate rear bag use.

In 6xc from a 28" Schneider, mine is CONSISTANT within 1/2moa. But it's ACCURACY,from center of bull) is within 1/4moa.
This is fine for me.

But some guns hold more meaning than their purpose..
Think about it.. How likely will you ever care about a disposable benchrest moneypit, like you would a T2K.
Your T2K, fitted to you like a glove..
Who is luckier than a man holding his favorite gun?

I say get on that list, while you still can!!

I'm sorry if that seems offensive. It's just my perspective.
Somewhat recently I had a BR gun built for Williamsport.
Parts & services came to $5500, support & reloading raised my investment to $7400. Turned out good and I'm satisfied with it's design.
But it's a purpose built workhorse, and I appreciate only it's performance for the most part. Useful for nothing outside 1kyd benchrest, to me, it has no value beyond it's individual parts.

It's completely different with my T2K. I truly like it, and love shooting it. To me it has some kind of value -beyond performance, price or parts. Perhaps because it's a better design.

So in my view, if you love BR, then damn sure get a BR gun. But don't judge a T2Ks value with reference to one.
Cuz that ain't right.

Now to the question about my terms Disposable, and money pit.
If you'll build one BR gun, you'll build another, and another. Each reflecting your current direction, but dividing enthusiasm for the former. It's a money pit we get caught up in.
And when you review the rifle section of Benchrest Central classifieds, have you noticed yourself calculating the sum of 'useful parts'? Do you look for the next 'potential project' going your way? Do you consider parting out or letting go of one of yours to perpetuate this?
That's what those fellas are doing...

It's more rare that someone lets go of their T2k. Why would they?
