tubal 2000 load data

Been shooting Tubal 2000 in a Savage LRPV that I had rebarreled in 223AI with excellent results. Using 23.0 gr. Tu2000 in my 223AI,Lapua cases, Federal 205M primers, and Berger 52gr match bullets. Last six consecutive 5 shot groups at 100 yds, averaged 0.31. I had previously spoken with Sierra ballistic customer service technician Duane Siercks,800-223-8799) and he indicated that Tu2000 is essentially equivalent to IMR 4198. Duane happens to also shoot Tu2000 and has a Tubal,Vectan) reloading manual. Nice clean burning powder that meters well in my experience. Good shooting.

Randy, I believe I would start a little lower than 21.0 gr.,e.g.19.5 to 20.0 gr. For a 53gr. bullet, the Hodgdon website shows an IMR4198 starting load of 19.0gr and a max load of 21.4gr. For my 223AI, I started with the max 223 load and worked my way up in 0.4gr increments. The 223AI version typically has 5-7% greater case capacity than a 223Rem.
