Trying to value a build

A friend of mine has a small gun shop in Columbus , Ohio. A customer brought this in and they are trying to determine a fair market value.
I only recognize possible a Remington short action, Boyds thumbhole stock, weaver scope. Its chambered in 22-250.
I will attach some pics.

Trigger would be nice to know what it is.
Is it a standard or 40x action?
Gunsmith and make of barrel can help determine value.
I didn’t realize Boyd’s made stock with a wide forend like that. Looks like it was setup for short range br or groundhog shoots.

So, the person knows nothing about it other than it was built by a gunsmith for a friend who passed, he bought it at the estate sale.

For me a lot of things come into play, barrel make, twist, round count, action work, bedding, stock type, not my ring choice, but the rest is not bad, with all that said, not knowing, looks like $1400-1500.00

Scope adds value, if you take the barrel out of the equation, focus on action work if any and bedding if any, looks like a decent rig to build off of, but you have to ditch those rings and bases, Rem-Age maybe

I would agree here
$1500 max, unless a guy is allowed to shoot and test it and borecope it
Being a 22-250, the throat may be eroded for over 1/2" or more
Nice gun though

Definitely not a Boyd's stock. Stock definitely looks a higher class stock. That's just my opinion. Take that and a dollar bill and you still can't buy a cup of coffee.

Just to summarize and add a bit - twist, tight neck? Fire cracking? 40x? Trigger? Bushed f pin? Lug and action have pecker marks. My apprentice instructor called such things "beauty marks".
If can't scope bbl, worst case is action(w rust?) stock n trigger needing a bbl.
A true roll of the dice.

I took a chance on an old 222 Sako Riihimaki. It was perfect on the outside and had a sweet old external adjustable scope. When I got it, I found the boltface severely pitted. The barrel had bad firecracking 9” up the bore from the chamber. Shot out was an understatement! Overbore cartridges are riskier!
Last summer I bought a pretty pre64 Model 70 in 243. I paid less than the cost of the action. It has a nice Canjar trigger and an attractive walnut laminate stock. Left hand but I can fix that. Barrel was as I expected. Firecracking goes 7 inches up the bore. I’ll shoot it a little just to see how good/bad it shoots (as a learning experience) but I have a Bartlien Medium Palma ready to go on it for a 308 build.
