Trued R700 Pre-Fit

I have a R700 barreled action, and I'm considering a pre-fit. The smith said that it had been trued up and threads opened 0.010 so that is 1.0725x16tpi.

Are there any pre-fits for trued actions? Southern precision says they have a 1.075 bugnut for actions they have trued.

I have a 50% off Brux barrel cert, so I may just use that and replace the barrel that is on it now with a typical shouldered barrel.

Send it to Brux and just have them fit the barrel to your action.

If the action has been machined on it is no longer " prefittable ". Who knows what dimensions have been changed.

He could get a nutted "pre-fit", but it would be a custom one...
Simple enough to pull the existing barrel and measure the PD to match it.
I don't think that would save any coin over a shouldered barrel by a smith though.

I would just screw one on, truing 700’s gets so-so reviews.

As with any remington no prefit will be correct, especially one thats been trued. Threads oversized, action faced off too much, bolt nose modification, etc. there is very little chance those measurements are what the barrel is cut for, even on an untouched action
