tripod for spotting scope?

I need a new tripod for my leupold spotting scope, I was using a cheap one but it broke. What works well for you guys out in the field?

Do you need a low mount or a standard height tripod. If the latter look for an all-metal Davidson Star-D or Leitz tilt-all on ebay (tilt-all and star-D Pro are same design). With luck you can pick them up for under $30.00. Very solid, all machined aluminum controls.

Paul's suggestion for the Davidson or Leitz is very good and the price is right. At the other end of the spectrum is the Ray-Vin Eclipse F-Stand. I have one and it meets my needs shooting from the bench, conventional High Power or F-Class.

It also helps that Ray is a great guy.

I second the moderator's comments. Many of these were actually made for video equipment so they are VERY stable with a scope on them.
