Triple Duece!!!

Have model 788 in triple duece, looking for a scope for it. Any suggestions on magnafaction or brands. Has anyone heard of or used the Weaver Kaspa Scopes? Not wanting to spend $500 for a scope but do want a quality scope. Also any pet loads. Its going to be a varmit and a light bench gun.

Those older Weaver K-10s are pretty decent on tracking, clarity and price. I have them on my 722 222 and they work very nicely.

Yes I had a K10 a few yrs. back wish I would have never sold that scope, but as the saying goes hind sight is 20/20!

Leupold 12X on EBay, used +/-$300. I bought 3 12X's and a 10X and they were all great and if not have a lifetime warranty. Just make sure the tube is in good shape and it is from a trusted seller.

My favorite is the V-16 Weaver with a 1/4 Min dot. Very clear glass and they track great. AO is nice also.

I use a 4x16x42 SF Kaspa on a 222 savage model 25 works great for my purpose

My load is 23grs AA2460 53gr match hornady WSR primer win brass bug hole groups

My pet load is 53 gr. SMK fbhp with 19.5 grs. of H-322 .020 off the lands

I'm still working out mine. I find that the 222 shoots very well with just about any bullet under 60gr, with a powder between H322 and H335. N133 works well for me.

I've shot Hornady 55gr FMJBT w/C for quite a few rounds, as well as a few other BT bullets. I find that my 222 likes flat base bullets better. I can achieve good groups with boat-tail or flat base, but I have a wider margin with the FB bullets.

I'm even chewing through my Rem 6 1/2 primers as well, though, I'll be watching the pressures carefully as temps rise for summer.

23.0gr H335 and the 55gr FMJBT isn't a bad load either.

Thanks fellas can't wait till i can start playing with mine. hope it does not take long to find a couple of excellent loads. has anyone used Vortex Crossfire II has BDC reticle? know where there's one for sale that may just b worth the money, but i know nothing about Vortex

I think the Vortex Viper is one of the better values out there. Been very happy with mine.

I am a fan of the Weaver T10, in old steel or new, as well as the VariX 2 6-18 with turrets from Leupold. I only shop used, and have found T10's for $275 and VariX for under $400 at several places including varmints den, rimfire central and benchrest central.

I love the 222. I like H322 and a 50 grain bullet. Mine likes Nosler. I also like the 40 grain Vmax. IMR4198 is a fine powder for the 222. Just use good cases and have fun. I have found the old 788 to be a real surprise. Some really shoot exceptionally well.

I've got one of the old 788s and it is a real tac driver!

H322, H335 work great, AR-Comp for heavier bullets 55-63gr (Thank you QuickLoad!).
Hodgdon Superformance works well too.

Check out Natchez. They have some Weaver V 6 X 24 on sale for $269 - the $50 Weaver Rebate. Just picked one up and a great value. They have semi target turrets. I hear u can get aftermarket turrets.

You might also consider the Nikon Buckmark 6-18. It has 1/8" clicks, sunshade, and a scope cover included. The only downside is that it is not as bright as the higher end scopes and you will loose the site picture if you move your cheek weld slightly. I have them on most of my rimfires and the 6X24 on my 22-250. There are some on Midway (usually on sale) and other sites that have the mil-dot reticle which I prefer.

Jeff, The nice thing about a 222 is how forgiving the cartridge is as far as her appitite for various powders and velocities. You'll be driving tacks the right out of the shoot!

I have gotten best results with VT 133 & win 748 powders, 53 gr Sierra Match Kings and 52 gr Berger flat base,
CCI BR primers and get best results with Lapua brass. sub .250 groups, on good conditions days.
