Trimming the head of a case, anyone???

Don't get hung up on all this measuring and chamber dimension. Tinker with powder type charge, overall length and jump. You probably won't see much improvement with neck tension, just go witth 0.002" tension.

Check out the load map stuff on this website:
I see a huge improvement with .001 neck tension with my rifles. Some rifles of quality don’t need it. They don’t need to be glass bedded, or free floated barrels. Feed it anything, factory or standard loading and they shoot great.

This thread is over the top. Lot of questionable information getting tossed around. It is no wonder that new shooters end up chasing their tails when they depend on the internet.
Not just internet. Load manuals aren’t much help. Techs from bullet and powder manufacturers aren’t either. My father in law wasn’t much of a help. He didn’t do much with what he had and tried to pass it along to me. He would get that nice group ONCE but is wasn’t consistent. Plenty of guys l knew at ranges l belonged to really didn’t know how to load. This site has great tips, but l will agree, this thread is not good.

Must be nice having your own optical comparator!… when I worked for ATK I had access to one and used it to make my own seating stems so they matched my bullet profile perfectly.

Yeah, it is. I got it when the company I worked for was upgrading to a new fangdangled highfaluting one. They said if I can get it in my truck I could have it. It's a Starrett. In needs some work but it gets the job done.

As many have said, it is most likely my brass. I think they are right. I went to the range the other day and am now prepping the brass that was shot. So far everything seems to be going well. I also ordered a Redding S-series die set with bushings and comp holders. That order should be here Friday 10/18/24. That should help with my issues...maybe. Thanks to all for your insights and advice. :)
