Trimming Meplats

When trimming meplats how much do you trim?

For instance if you had .020 variance would you trim that much off or would you say trim in batches of .005"?

I will be pointing once trimmed but I'm not sure if I should batch and trim or just trim to the shortest length?

I will be using a Hoover trimmer with a Whidden pointer.

TIA

I also use a Hoover trimmer and Whidden pointer. Here's my routine: [br]
Measure a reasonable sample from the lot (~25) and select one ~.005" longer than the shortest bullet.
Using a .010" feeler gauge, set up the trimmer and cut them all to the same length, which is ~.005" less than the shortest. Measure and record this length.
Adjust the pointer to provide the correct closure. Record the setting. [br]
When I need to run more of the same lot, adjust to the previous settings and go. You sometimes find an oddball that is much shorter than the others or some that have large nose folds. These are for fouling.
