For the high quality brass like Lapua, Alpha, Peterson, I find they're plenty consistent and easily fit in my chambers to fire form them. I start trimming after the 1st firing. But before the first firing, I do chamfer and deburr the case mouths since it's not done at the factory.Do any of you guys trim your brass right out of the box new brass ? i know a guy who takes .010 off right out of the box .

are you manually chamfer/deburr or using case prep machine/henderson/giraud?For the high quality brass like Lapua, Alpha, Peterson, I find they're plenty consistent and easily fit in my chambers to fire form them. i do both i don't have a henderson or a giraud have a cheaper power one but works good.are you manually chamfer/deburr or using case prep machine/henderson/giraud?
ok thanks good informationMeasure/check YOUR chamber length! Most reamers cut about .020 longer than MAX trim length. Don't trim UNLESS NEEDED!!
With the "proper" resizing dies, trimming won't be needed for a long time.
20 to 30 fired/resized cases and still no trimming needed.![]()
ok thanksI don't use my Giraud on virgin brass as they tend to be shorter than what I trim fired to. So, I just chamfer and deburr with my cordless tool:
