triggers

I have a lightened & tuned factory remington trigger in my one rifle . it seems like sometimes it feels very crisp and little to no creep . other times it feels like it has a lot of travel before the rifle fires . is this possible ? I seem to notice this more when I'm also shooting another rifle that has a jewell trigger . these are both long range hunting rifles , not comp rifles . I've been thinking on replacing this rem trigger with a jewell . this brings me to my next question . I do like the feel of the jewell trigger and I've been going to buy another one of them . I see that B&A has a tacsport trigger . does anyone have an opinion on this trigger ? thanks Jim

Jim I'm just going on assumptions because I don't have your trigger in front of me, but it sounds like someone adjusted the trigger but didn't put the correct spring in to lighten it up. The trigger spring has to reset each time if its a walker trigger it takes around 1lb to reset the trigger and it sounds like it doesn't have enough weight resetting the trigger. SO some times it resets to full rest and other times it locks with the sear before its pushed back fully??? Or your screws are loose and the sear engagement screw is moving. All easily fixed with someone that knows rem triggers.

To your question about he B&A tacsport, No I haven't used one yet but am very interested in them as well.

Danny , what you say makes sense . it could be a loose screw , or a weak spring . I wasn't sure if a trigger could act this way . I've shot the rifle a lot and I didn't notice this until last summer . I'm just going to replace it . I hope someone knows about the B&A trigger . I'm not sure if they are available yet . Thanks Jim

I have had the same issue with the "Walker" triggers--The trigger and Trigger Connector need to be EPOXIED together as there will be some movement if not done.

Good Luck

Jim

NEGATIVE - DO NOT EPOXY the CONNECTOR to the TRIGGER Lever.

The connector piece has to have minimal clearance between it & the trigger lever.
Too much backlash between the connector & trigger lever as noted by the OP is a DANGEROUS situation made true by someone who should not have attempted or hasn't the slightest inclination on how to adjust the design.

Shilen makes a nice trigger for hunting rifles. If you can use the safety and bolt release from your Rem/Walker trigger the price is about half of what a Jewell will cost you.
