I've never understood why folks dont like this trigger.
Wife's 260 has a Xmark, it works perfectly, and breaks cleanly.
Maybe someone can enlighten me.

try to get that freaking glue out to adjust is first reason---I never got a good one...

Edit. A little heat softens it right up. I can usually get them to break pretty good. Leave the over travel alone, it interacts with the safety.

I've had them in several (more than 5) rifles, and only 1 was reasonable in pull weight. The others were above 5 pounds and they would adjust (XMP versions) no matter how far you backed the screw out. One worked just fine. I called Remington and they wouldn't share the acceptable pull weight range of the trigger.

I’ve adjusted probably 50+ of them. A few of the very first ones wouldn’t go below 3lbs or so but most of the later ones would go 1.75-2.25lbs safely. You do need to back the lawyer screw in the trigger blade all the way out and just use the weight adjustment on the box. The best I can tell is the adjustment on the trigger blade was put there just to give guys who shouldn’t be working on triggers something to play with that wouldn’t get them in trouble..

Just to cover my arse, if anyone isn’t comfortable with any of this and isn’t willing to be responsible for their own work, replace it or take it to a gunsmith. Don’t mess with it!

A FYI the OP’s pic is an easy version without the extra weight screw in the trigger blade. This is the version that tended to not go very light.
