Trick for K&M power neck turner

I recently bought a K&M setup for neck work to use with a power drill. I found the shell holder to be horrible to clamp down, loosen and position case head as it is small sharp and has no grips..other than putting in an allen wrench in slot as in the instructions. I wasnt happy at all with this lame engineering and was thinking about having a machinist make a knurled collar for me to slip over the head and then I looked at a pack of forster aluminum die rings sitting on my bench. Perfect fit! now process is speeded up 3x and no more cussing at k&m.

It works like a charm. Also now dont have to dremel all the sharp edges off! I am getting back into more 'serious' reloading so I did some considerable research and thought I was getting 'good stuff' on my picks based on reviews...Seems like alot of supposedly common better quality tools are made by outfits who obviously dont do alot of reloading or cant be bothered to improve on a protoype. A good example is this neck turner head. Its garbage as it is shipped! And I am sure I am not the only one who tore his fingers trying to power tighten/loosen the head! ha

Thank you tesoro...I bought a Sinclair holder for the reasons you sought a solution. I had to resort to the K&M this past month for turning 6.5 x55 brass as I had no shellholder that fit the Sinclair for that case head size. My fingers and a few small Allen wrenches also thank you!

That's a nice upgrade but why didn't you just put the case in the drill? I put my cases in the chuck of a dewalt cordless drill. The drill stands on its own. I run the drill with one hand and the cutter with other......The drill chuck acts like a collet. The keyless chuck is easy to loosen and tighten and the brass doesn't spin in it....... just my .02

Great idea, just put one on mine and will try it out tomorrow, Thanks for the tip.

Great tip but I wish you would have thought of it before I bought the one that clamps into the primer pocket.

Glad tip helped...!

I also just invented the perfect dual spring assist dillon speed swager if anyone interested in seeing it

This may sound dangerous, and in the hands of a klutz perhaps it is. I have simply taped a suitably sized Allen wrench in the hole that is provided to use one to add leverage when tightening the K&M power driver/case holder. This is safe for me because I power the case with a cordless drill, so neither hand can be in a place where it would be caught while in operation. One hand is on the drill, the other holds the turning tool. For cases that do a lot of turning for, I prefer either the 21st century, or PMA Tool holder. Either one is a lot better than the K&M, although I do like the actual turning tool for my finish cut.
