TRICK 10-22 VS VOLQUARTSEN

I shot in a club with a group of about 10 shooters all using 10 22 for about 5-6 years. Only 1 Volquartsen rifle in the mix. It shot top score without fail for about 6000 rounds then fell off the end of the world. It started with a tension/carbon fiber barrel. My theory is the vibration from firing loosened the carbon fiber causing loss of tension. He replaced the cf barrel with stainless Volq. snake fluted and returned to the kick ass spot. Mind you there were no Clark or Kidd or any other now competitive units on the line. Best was Ruger bull barrel hammer forged running not close...I think todays tricked out 10 22 will be competitive with Volq. But it will cost you 1000.00 bucks or more . How good depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you shoot for money- go for it. If you shoot for particle board and pride--maybe. LT

I have gone both ways - building up a Ruger to be the best it could be (and at considerable expense)- and have bought Volquartson. The Volquartson was the least expensive of the two ventures for me in the end - and it shoots as well.

I will second what searcher says, I did the same thing, with the same results, buy a Volquartsen . Carl in Yakima
