Treaded cap for Muzzle brake ?

Is it a big deal or a problem to add a threaded cap to protect the threads after you have removed the muzzle brake after the brake has been done? I have a rifle with a brake that I'd like to use for hunting. It has a nice brake that is contoured to the barrel and then cerikoted. A couple years ago had a hunting guide almost kill me when I took a shot with my rifle that had a brake, decided it would be better to not have a brake on a hunting rifle when in the field. Thanks Rick

Why shoud he be mad at you ? Did he see you had a brake on the gun? Larry

Thanks guy's I'll call Harrels Monday. Wasn't only guide but the outfitter. He new it had brake just forgot. Really ruined the moment when I shot my sheep, decided I'll bet a cap for it.

Don't forget to check your zero, sometimes they change quite a bit.

This. The thinner the barrel and the heavier the brake, the more likely you are to see substantial POI shift. I have a Sporter-profile Borden here that moves 6MOA when you take off the long Borden brake!

Yes I do know the zero may change. On the Brakes I've had put on I alway have a cap made for it. On the brakes that Darrell Holland did for me he made a tread protector just like the brake and they shoot the same place with or without brake. Very nice. I spoke top Harrel's and they can take care of me. Appreciate all the input. Rick
