Trail Boss powder in 6BR for plinking load???

Hi Guys,
What do you think about using Trail Boss powder behind a light varmint projectile for a super reduced reduced for kids plinking & even close range varmint use? A 55 grain Ballistic tip at 22lr or 22 Mag levels is what I'm thinking. Where would you start with powder weight?

did you check hogdons web site ? they have a listing on there for 223 sub sonic 308 30/06 243 that might give you an idea of where to start.....

I just loaded up some reduced 6BR for plinking/close range varminting.
Load was 58VMax with 10.0 gr of WST. Nice mild load with velocities at 2200 fps.
Accuracy is about 1MOA at 100 yards. Needed to seat for a jump of about .070 to get a good grip on the short bullet. The 17HMR may stay home next year.

Hey Steve thanks for that. That's exactly the peroformance range I were looking for.
How do you find the vmax's work at that speed? It should make for a great close
range bunny load. What primers are you using with that powder?

I have SR bench rest primers to use, so I used them. Don't think it matters though.
Does a great job on water filled cans and cartons. I put them in line and saw that the bullet was in pieces when it got to second target at 100 yards...blew them right up nice. Much more power than 17HMR which actually works fairly well on GHogs with a good shot, so I am confident it will work well. 8-10 gr of a pistol powder is a good place to start for many reduced loads. Good shooting!

I use trail bos in a few of my rifles for fireforming with normal bullets. Which ever cartridge I use, I keep the powder measure at about the same setting, load them to the same height, but there is only 1/4 of the powder weight in it. I can crank the rounds through without the barrel getting warm. It doesnt foul bad and accuracy is good.
