Tragedy in Blacksburg VA today..

It is terrible what has happen at Virginia Tec. Multiple shootings this morning. It will be a loose loose situation. First my thoughts and prayers go out to the victums and their families. It will be another nail in the coffin in private gun ownership. The antis will jump all over this with a vengeance.

Rusty:
You got it, bad deal all around. Like you said, especially for the families losing loved ones. The guy couldn't just take himself and let it be that. Shame, absolute shame.

You are so right."Guns don't kill people, people kill people." But they don't see it that way.Guns make us turn into bad people.I wish these retarded $#@^%* &^!*@#% would see the light. It so sad that it has come down to this.Prayers out to the students and family's.Its gona be a liberal media hayday.

All the more reason for people to arm themselves. Obviously the "establishment" can not protect us, so we are left to protect and defend ourselves.

I will NEVER give up my own protection, or means of defending myself from the criminal element.

ETA - this is the perfect opportunity to take the offensive and demand the right to protect ourselves from the criminal element. Just as Texas passed our CCW law after the Lubys incident, this is PROOF that the time has come for a National CCW program that WILL NOT BE INFRINGED.

We need to use this to our advantage, contact our reps, etc, and demand the right to defend ourselves!!!!

As a follow up, and proof that we need to take the offensive on this tragedy:

Larry Hincker must be proud...

VA Tech official praised defeat of student self-defense proposal in 2006

A Virginia Tech official in 2006 praised the defeat of a proposal to allow
students with state-issued concealed handgun permits to carry their handguns
on college campuses in Virginia. At least 20 unarmed students were killed on
the VA Tech campus Monday morning by a single gunman.

Virginia House Bill 1572 was proposed in 2005 by Shenandoah County, Va.,
Republican Del. Todd Gilbert after a VA Tech student with a state-issued
concealed handgun permit was arrested and charged only with "unlawfully"
carrying a handgun on campus. The bill would have prohibited state
universities in Virginia from enacting "rules or regulations limiting or
abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun
permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."

After the proposal died in the state's House Committee on Militia, Police
and Public Safety, The Roanoke Times quoted VA Tech spokesman Larry Hincker
as celebrating the defeat of the bill:

"I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's
actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

The thing that really bothers me is that in the video taken at Va Tech and also at Columbine you see all these police officers dressed in their black vests etc. with their M16, shotguns, etc. etc. with all the super toys that the taxpayers can buy standing behind cars, trees, etc. while shot after shot rings out inside the building. Both at Va Tech and at Columbine they did not enter the building by breaking windows etc. untill after the gunman took his own life. It seems to me that with all the armanent and high tech toys they are issued somebody should have thought to issue some balls.
Sorry LE guys but somebody should have gone in and saved some lives.

Hi all, I shoot hi power at Butner Nc. and I work at Va. tech in the grounds department my son is a student there also and he was in harmsway at that time along with quite a few friends of ours. I and my crew were working near the first shooting.. In all fairness to the police department there they believed it was contained at the first shooting and no amount of second guessing will bring back the dead. There is a lot healing that will have to be done here in Blacksburg va. David Kozikowski

Davek I am glad you and your son are both OK. My prayers go out to all the victims. I hope for peace for the families that lost loved ones.
