TRACT TORIC SCOPES--AMAZING VALUE

Hey gang
I am like lots of us--I have gone through a lot of scopes--looking for the most bang for the buck--there are lots of good choices. I saved up--sold my medium level stuff and took a leap--I bought a TRACT TORIC 34mm FFP 4.5-30 ELR
I was shocked by the sharpness--contrast, etc--It is built like a tank--I think you could drive tent stakes with it--It tracks perfectly--No kidding--I just ordered my second one. Jon and the customer service there has been the most professional I have ever rec'd from any shooting vendor--They are pros. The scopes IMO are the best value out there--They are made by LOW in Japan--maker of many high $$$ labels. I urge you to look through one if you get a chance at the range--I bet if you do you will buy one.
The turrets are very positive--I really like the way they lock and the zero stop is easy to set.
The glass --The glass--The glass! You will love one if you get a chance to look.
I don't have ANY relation to them except being one darn happy customer--wanting to tell others about these awesome scopes.

Super clear glass. Repeatable adjustments, accuracy way beyond its price . My 3x15 50 is comparable to any Leupold that I own , or have ever peered through. I’d bet Jon wouldn’t mind potential customers trying these scopes. I’d also bet most shooters will keep them.

I have known one of the Jons for quite a number of years. I agree completely with your remarks of praise for the two principles in tis company.
I have the same model as you (MRAD) and picked it up for my 338LM build because the details showed it had 27 mills of elevation. The glass is great, the reticle is perfect for long range shooting and the scope has held up to repeated recoil from the 338LM shooting max load 300OTM bullets.
Now for the con; there is nowhere near 27MRAD elevation in my scope. In fact it barely has 20. At 1800+ yards I had two rely on the reticle to get enough elevation.
@dusterdave173 @VegasCharlie @loinhunter have you verified your total elevation?

I don't shoot competitions, (except with myself) and only use 2nd focal point scopes. At 78 years young I'm not changing now. If Tract made some, (or one) of their higher power scopes with a "cleaner" reticle in 2nd focal point I would be all over it.

I haven’t had to verify total elevation as I have no place to shoot long range. Easy peasy holdover for a deer at 200 yds last year. Hash marks are accurate.

I'm only 46, but I agree with everything you said. I wont go FFP or Christmas tree.

I said the same thing and then I got a Minox ZP5 FFP with the MR4 Christmas tree reticle. Now, I prefer the FFP and mils. Might be something to try. I use it for varmint hunting & shooting out back.

Hi glad to see someone else checked out these scopes. They are a great scope. High quality for half the price of a top of the line scope. No middle man free shipping and a life time warranty. I have a torric 3x15 I use for hunting out west. Have a 4x16 tekoa and a pair of 10x50 binoculars. Met Jon at the rifle range one day and asked him what kind of scope he had and I was hooked on tract from then on. Jon even let me take home 4 pair of binoculars to try out in low light. Couldn't find a nicer guy. Also was changing out an old leupold on my sako and he gave me a scope to see if it would fit on my rifle. You call or text him and he gets right back to you to answer your question. No better customer service then tract.

I have a 2-10 sfp and 4-20x50 toric. I like both. The 4-20 seems to have a tiny bit of wiggle on the parallax knob. Shoots fine, but annoying at this price. I will send it in when I need to take it off the rifle. Didn't notice till it was mounted.

@dusterdave173 How are you liking them a year in?

I just received one myself. Bought it hoping to like it enough to replace my early generation NF ATACAR 5-25x56 SFP MOAR on a 6.5x47 chassis rifle. I want FFP and a lil more power doesn't hurt. All I've done so far is mount them side x side on a fixture and peered around the neighborhood like a perv. The glass is incredibly bright in comparison with almost no noticeable tint. The controls are smooth, clicks positive. Parallax & target focus seem to happen simultaneously (how it should). The illumination and switch are proper - something NF would be wise to incorporate (theirs sux, IMO).

I'll be testing tracking & resolution at the house over the weekend. It's been overcast, so I need the nastiness to come back to see how it looks in typical match conditions. If I can get to the range, I'll check it for holding point of aim on the checker. It has a ways to go to convince me to keep it, but so far, so good.

Looking forward to your report.

After more than a year with my Two TRACT Torics--4.5-30 I am thrilled with them--I have yet to look through another scope that I thought was sharper or brighter. I have used them on the PD fields, punching paper to 600 and everything in between. Folks that get a look go straight out and order one--The Glass is outstanding but construction is just as good. Made by LOW in Japan --sold by great guys --that Care about customers--does not get any better for the $$ These punch WAY above their weight On sale 10% off already reasonable price this wk end
If you get one you will smile and never let it go.

Yeah, I was going to mention the Memorial Day deal. They offered me that a little early because I called and asked if they ever had promotions. Also, they aren't yet to the size where they have to collect TX sales tax. Paying 8.25% on $1,525 is $125 flushed down the toilet. F- that. What pushed me over the edge was the 30-day, no questions asked return window.

I sure hope I get to play with mine over the long weekend.

I just wish they didn't have that 'sniper grey's metal finish. It's a neat look, but only for the scope alone. The rifle I want to put one on has a blued receiver, stainless barrel. It's a Tikka so I use direct mount rings, those are black. Adding sniper grey will add another finish color to the whole mess.

I'll probably end up going with the Tekoa. All I'm looking for at this time is the premium glass in a hunting rifle scope format. So glass, weight and keeping zero is the most important. Anything over 10x is never needed in the places I hunt. And I don't move turrets while hunting either.

I wish someone had a really good writeup of them side by side. With their return policy I could buy both and observe, but if probably just make excuses to keep both.

Per the mfg, when comparing the 1 inch Toric and the Tekoa have the same SCHOTT high transmission (HT) glass. So the only optical advantage of the Toric is the additional extra-low dispersion (ED) capability.

Is the Toric's low dispersion capability add that much more over the Tekoa? Maybe the better question is, when does extra low dispersion help the shooter? At distance? At high magnification? In mirage? Basically If it's not needed during the low light situations, then thats the answer.

Just some rambling from a guy with an itch for a new scope.

Cameraland has some great open box deals this week--Athlon Chronos which is made by LOW in Japan and pretty much same as Tract Toric--$1299--not bad--many others on their site

Made it to the range with mine today. Put it thru the paces in the scope checker. All worked as it should. Only thing it has yet to prove is how the glass is in nasty conditions. No problem seeing holes at 310 yards today with either the NF ATACR or the Toric - even the one in the green pictured. To my eye, the reticle becomes useful at about 10x. Did most shooting a little higher than 25x. From my 100yard zero, I have 75-1/2 minutes of up travel. With this barrel/ load, it takes 33 to get to 1k (20” 6.5x47 130VLD @ 2,690).

I avoided that by sending one to my son in OH. Prior to that I bought 2 that were sent to NY and got hit. 2 RFire scopes sent to OH for grandsons - no tx. I have 5 so far. Going to get another later this year with the Eagleman hunting reticle.

Awesome customer service like all the other posters shared. Found out about Tract from Bob Hart custom rifles in PA and James Eagleman from Barbour Creek shooting school in AL.
