Torque specs for piller bedded actions

Does anyone use a torque wrench with specific weight specs when reassembling a barrelled action into a pillar bedded stock? If so what for front screw, rear screw?

I've always had good luck with 55 inch pounds on the front and 50 on the rear. I've done this going back to my days with HS stocks and factory 700 actions. It's served me well and I don't have much need to deviate.

On factory actions I've played around with different torques, but not on my custom actions, they've always shot well enough that adjusting that seemed like it wasn't low hanging fruit.

Some time ago, I spoke to Dolphin Guns about my chassis. Mik suggested that 55in/lbs was good, but not much difference was noticed between 35- 55in/lbs. Below 35, some shooters had noticed the screws loosening off.

My Savage actions, i do 30 inlb on the front screw, rear screw 15 inlb.
Then i tune it 5 inlb at a time to 30 inlb per the action screw tuning article on this site.
One of my rifles likes 15 inlb. One 20 inlb. One 25 inlb,

Let the rifle tell you.

Question came up at the range one day while doing some other adjustments to another shooters rifle , and I suggested , "Give McMillan a call ". McMillan said 45in/pd. on their stocks . That's where it got set at , and all the sudden , his "Flyers" disappeared . Hmmm . Maybe they got sumptin there .
