Top Notch Smith

I have a new Buddy of mine looking to put together a light weight Sheep gun. He lives inthe St Louis MO area and was wondering about a top notch smith in that area. He has a hart Barrel and Defiance action planned. With a composite stock not yet picked out.

I thought Gordy was in SD for some reason. Nonetheless he is on the exact opposite side of the state from St Louis and that is one LOOOOONG drive. One of the good ones and Ill pass it on to him to see if that is exceptable.

In all honesty, shipping to a smith is really painless. Just something to consider.

XRing is correct. UPS and USPS will ship anywhere. I wouldn't want to find a gunsmith that wants you to look over his shoulder. Pick out the best in your mind and ship it to him.

Thanks fellas, Im pretty well versed in sending MY stuff around the country to have work done. He was hopping to have something close to home. I tried to convince him that its no big deal.But...... Its his choice not mine.
Just trying to help him along a little and appreciate everyones effort to help out.

I really dont think its a look over the shoulder deal more than it is a meet face to face and ask some questions prior to builing so all are on the same sheet of paper. Cant blame a fella for that I guess. He doesnt seem like the in your face type of fella, much more laid back.

My Smith never works when Im there. He turns his phone off and works when its nice and quite with the radio on. I always call before I come over to make sure its OK and sometimes he even has me over for Dinner...
I dont like it when people watch me work either so I respect that, no matter the task.

Gordy is the best I've seen. But his waiting list is quite long.

Gordy built me a sheep rifle a few years ago. 700 s/a trued, #1 lilja, bansner. What a hammer with 120 NBT's, if a 6# rifle shooting in the 3's is a hammer...

I can't recommend him enough.
