Toolmaking Course

Every year about this time I pick out 5 people from a forum that want to learn the basics and advances of Toolmaking and Modelmaking. If anyone would want to further their machining skills I will do so completely free of charge with no strings attached. It requires a commitment of 3 to 6 months on your part and mine. It covers manual machining only and no one fails the course. Basic knowledge of machines is helpful. I do this as I feel that you always have to give something back.

Knowledge is a wonderful thing. To possess it and not know how to apply it can be the greatest waste of time a person can endure.

Seems to me my apprenticeship took 4yrs, and that was just the basics!

RJ, good point, mine too, but an old journeyman told me years ago that it was what I learned after I knew it all that counted!

You're right. My modelmaking course entailed toolmaking and it took me 6 1/2 years, but what I found out that you can train a monkey to run a machine, but he's not capable of making any adjustments. Later on down the years I realized that this tool/modelmaking is mainly knowledge and the lesser part machining. I'm sure all card carriers will say the same. The tricks that you learn through the years are priceless. Knowledge is a wonderful thing but if not used, it's a complete waste of everyone's time. I have been instructing for over 30 years. It's free. What has anyone to lose? I'm sure there's not many that would even make a commitment like this. Just the 5 that I take on still equates to 2 and 1/2 years of my time. LOL
