Tooley MBR Stock by McMillian

I purchased a long range rifle with the Tooley MBR stock by McMillian and would like you guys' opinions as to what rear bag to get for it. What struck me is that the rear of the stock comes to a point at the bottom and I'm sure that one type of bag and one type of ears will work best with it, I'm just not sure what it is. It seems that Edgewood and Protector get more mention here than most. The rifle has a 30" barrel and weighs 17 pounds.

I have ordered most of what i need to get this project up and going but still have a ways to go yet. I hope someday just for grins and giggles to shoot in a competition at 600 and 1000 yards either BR or F-Open.

Thanks...Mike

I have 3 Tooleys. I spoke directly to Protektor with an exact measurement of my rear bags. I believe (I would have to go re-measure them again) they have a 3/8" space between where the ears attach to the body of the bag. My rifles DO NOT ride on the bag bottom between the ears, as some with flat bottoms do. Mine ride just a hair (maybe less than 1/2") above the bag IN the cushion portion of the ears. I have found this to be excellent as the ears are completely supporting the stock. It rides / tracks very well in this manner..

With my MBR Tooley I use a Protektor Model Deluxe BB with Cordura mid-ears (part # 14BC.5DSD BB).
With this bag and the MBR I'm running on the double stitching with the ears snuggled firmly against sides.
Most all LR-BR shooters that I'm aware of run on the stitching (unlike SR-BR, who typically run on the ears) which compliments the longer/heavier barrels and additional torque from the faster twist barrels that commonly go with LR BenchRest for tracking and vertical gains.

Good Luck
