Too much variance in bullet specs?

For myself it means that they are uniform from base to the datum on the ogive my tool is measuring. I set a tolerance and load within + or - .001 of that number.
Im probably the minority again but im still new also.

I think everybody's milage vary's with there intended purpose when I comes to BTO, short range, 1000 YD BR or LRhunting.
BTO is what I do for LR hunting and it seems to work for my purpose atleast if nothing else gives me an idea of some type of consistency especially when I have to switch lots. Ive measured other manufacturers bullets than my Bergers I use and it was eye opening how much they were different in the same box, did it matter well I never used them to find out if nothing else I didn't want the question in the back of my mind.

I think BTO is the worst measure, and as demonstrated here really.
With BTO you don't know what it means, so you couldn't credibly act on it.
Has his ogive radius shifted datum? Bearing length? Base length?
Would you act on each or their summation the same?

My single measure is ogive radius, with meplats pointed.
Both meplats and nose shape affect BC.
What happens behind the ogive datum is difficult to define, and matters less anyway.
You’re a lot further down the rabbit hole than I am…and I do know what BTO means to me…available case capacity has decreased when a bullet has a longer BTO…also, neck/bullet interference has increased…just wondering if anyone knew what I should expect on a target….I’ll shoot what I’ve got and find out…
