Too much scope power ?

rebs,

I shoot 22 Rimfire F-class (50 & 100 yards). I've been shooting a Sightron 10-50x60ED for a few months now. I keep it on 50 power 99% of the time and it is nothing short of amazing.

I've used a Sightron STAC 4-20X50 with my wife's 223.
Found myself wanting more power.
Saved up & bought a Sightron SIII 10-50X60.
Man what a difference!
Crank the power up to just where i can see the mirage, shoot, then crank up to see where i hit.
I highly reccomend!

My experience probably is not helpful for your application but I will offer it since I think it may be helpful for others.

My application is for the National Match Course (aka XTC) shooting a match rife where the rules do not limit scope power. I find the maximum scope power for this application is limited by may area of wobble relative to the size of the target. My area of wobble for the standing position is rather large so 4X or smaller is appropriate. For sitting and prone with the sling my area of wobble is much smaller and I am able to use more power and 20X to 25X seems to be optomum.

Me too.
I also use mine at 50 feet indoors.

I use a 6x on my hunter gun.
A 36x on my 6BR.
A 45x on my 30BR.
All have FC with a dot.
I shoot 100 & 200 score.

Almost forgot a 20x on my 22lr for fun gun out to 100.

There is no such thing as too much scope..Like Larry said...just turn it down a bit
if mirage becomes a problem. Im looking for a 80 power..lol
Im thinkin March makes one.
