TOO many variables with my 6 BR-AI ???

Here's what I got this fall. New BRA, 20 break in rounds, I did a single 2/10th ladder at 1k. A month later, 119 rounds, I did it again at 300. Both times I was just looking for max since my reamer is slightly different. I did the one at 300 only because I was at the local range testing scopes, and 300 is all I had.

Would like to do something similar, but within minutes, and now that the barrel is "ready". Note the velocities changed quite a bit from green barrel to current, EXCEPT at the upper node. I have no idea if this below example teaches us anything since they're a month apart, and two different ranges, and quite a difference in elevation and temperature. Not to mention a very green barrel vs seasoned.

It does appear there's a definite node at 3100 though.

Tom
Definitely interesting those bullet holes are almost identical at 1k an 300

That's a 3 hour drive an I have to work for a living weekend there something always going on.
Was thinking you were closer then that, my bad....
Before I had my own range, use to take 1/2 day off work every once in while to go test/shoot.
I know Tom has taken off work to test a few times to.

You should talk to some farmers or cattle guys near you. That is what I use to do, and also is how I ended up with my own range (which is actually on 2 farmers lands).

I am trying to locate a place where I can use a portable. Bench

Interesting results Tom but Im not sure what you could read into them if anything?

Yes there is a similar result at 3100fps but down at the bottom at 3000fps they show just as good a result at 300 then fall apart at 1000.

Bearing in mind how unlikely it is to shoot everything at all distances in the same condition I do also wonder how vital it really is?

I would have reasoned that if you shot say 3 or more identical ladders and took an average then even if conditions were different the best would still be the best and easy to identify even if ultimate results looked different?

I'll tell you when I know the answer lol. Next year, when the snow goes off, I want to put paper at 100-300, and paper at 1k. Then I'll do one of my traditional ladders at 1k, and follow it by shooting one of each on a "level line" at one or all of the closer targets. This should allow me to correlate the distances if done within a few minutes of one another. If I see something that is obvious, I'll tell you, but you have to keep it secret!:p

Tom
Before it's over with,Bart will have you tuning at 100 yards.

Glad you're back up and running again Buddy!
I know you put A Lot of work back into er!
Proud of You, Pal
Time to put it all to work now, we'll be back on the benches before ya know it.
