To All Of Tony's Friends,
Earlier this year we lost a very good friend, a good shooter and frequent correspondent on this site when we lost George "Tony" Robertson.
Tony was a member of the 2013 United States F-Open Team and had been selected to shoot with the 2017 United States F- Open Team in Canada, prior to his untimely death.
Tony was a leading member of the Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Long Range Rifle Team and a stalwart member of our club, often serving as our Chief statistical Officer for our Long Range Matches, and volunteering to teach and mentor many F-Class shooters, including me.
After his passing, many of his friends, many of whom frequent this Forum, wanted to honor his memory by contributing to a memorial fund. His family expressed their desire that whatever was done in Tony's memory be done so as to conform with Tony's desire to help grow F-Class at Bridgeville and elsewhere.
Many of you contributed to that fund so I wanted to let you know that the George "Tony" Robertson Memorial Trophy (probably to be known as "The Robertson Cup") has been built and has now been awarded for the first time. The club decided that the best way to honor Tony was to present the trophy on an annual basis to the club member who shoots the best two-day aggregate at the Delaware State Championship - note that it does NOT go to the high resident, it goes to the high club member, because Tony was from Maryland, not Delaware, and because we have members from a large number of states other than Delaware.
This year's winner is one of Tony's star pupils, Dave Kokoszka who overcame wind and cold weather to post a high score of 979-32x during Bridgeville's last match of the season.
A photo of Dave and Tony's memorial trophy is attached - I hope.
A very big THANK YOU to everyone who donated to this project - I know Tony would want to thank you as well.
Thanks,
John
