Tom Mousel or Alex Wheeler

Both of you have recommended CCI 400 for use in the 6 BRA when shooting H4895 powder. My best load so far is with H4895 and Bart's Infinity bullets. However, I don't have any CCI primers but have been using Federal 205 (both Match and regular) with my loads. There is a store about 40 miles away that carries CCI primers. Do you think that it would be worthwhile to try some with my favorite load? Also, when do you change from 400's to the magnum 450's. I respect both of your opinions and let me thank you in advance for any information. Good shooting....James Mock

James I wish I could tell you 100%. I guess it depends if you think theres more left in your barrel. When I used to shoot rl15 the 450 always tested best and I had only one barrel that preferred Varget. Light neck tension and fed 205s are what I shot with it. I have seen pretty large changes in groups just between the 400 and BR4s.

Thanks. I have found that the Fed. 205 primer tends to crater with the warmer loads. Is the CCI better in that regard, or does one have to go to the 450 to stop that cratering. Again, thanks. James
