A little more breeze and more switchy than we are used too. We had 2-250s with 13 and 11x. I was third with a 248-11x. I wish I knew the why of my 2 nines. It was either bag handling or maybe my 25yr old Fiocchi V315 pistol match ammo. Shooting centerfire, I normally know why. A long time friend who is a pistol&shotgun shooter used my old rifle to come in 4th with a 247-13x. The first rifle match he has ever shot. I'm proud of him. It is all fun.

Butch, I feel your pain. Our last BR-50 match I was cooking along, 28 straight 10's or X's, 29th shot same hold and same conditions as far as I could tell, a 7 at 1 O'clock. WTF, this with a lot of RWS R-50 my Walther loves. I'm chalking it up to a hot load. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I worked in manufacturing, and one thing is for sure, the more you make of something the more Quality Control is required to ensure product quality, and QC costs money. That said, there is not enough money to make sure that zero defects leave the plant, just can't do it. With rimfire, even highest quality rimfire, they make a bazillion every day and sometimes it's that last 'X' of the card that the one bad round of the lot shows up. Murphy makes sure of that.

Looks like you are taking this rimfire thing seriously.

Our club uses the IBS 50yd rimfire target. 4 sighters across the top and 25targets on the rest of the paper.
Those are the same targets we use. Actually i should say that we have the same dimensional target printed locally . One club had it cut down to 20 bulls to get it on to a cheaper sized paper. My best score so far with my 40x is 500 and 29x for a 2 target shoot. I shot a 500 with 22x and came in 5th last weekend with the winner shooting 500 and 35x.

I went almost 2 years missing the 500 by 1 or two shots. It drove me nuts.

How our clubs do a shoot is we shoot 2 targets per match for the 500 total. We shoot 1 target per relay. Ive found the wind can change a fair bit from the 1st target in the morning to the second usually after lunch.

We shoot that target with scope and a target with 4 or 5 bulls for the aperture sight guys. I don't remember my Bud shooting anything else but 250 and always several Xs.

We only use scopes , most are 24x power or better I'm using a Weaver T36 on my Remington 40x . Were not allowed 1 piece tests either has to be front rest and rear sand bag.

Its a lot of fun but can be very frustrating.

Butch you need to recoat that old rimfire ammo (and new ammo too) with our SPL bullet coating. Many match shooters already have .....no more lead/ carbon rings!

Interested in this comment. are you cleaning the factory lube off first? What ammo is it being used on? I'm using centerx. what does the coating do?

I don't think the one piece rests are illegal at our club. Nobody uses them.

I've got several bricks of old Eley Match Xtra with frosted-looking lube that partially flakes off when it's chambered - it was in only slightly better condition when purchased, which I guess is why they were selling it for $39/brick. Wonder if this SPL lube could be applied over the old Eley lube, or would I have to peel/flake it all off before applying SPL? Wouldn't consider messing with it, but with good ammo being in such short supply today, it's worth at least asking about it...

Sell it to me and I can do the SPL. I have some of that Eley already.
