To SEB or not to SEB, that is the question!

I have a friend and shooting buddy has offered me his SEB Neos as he is upgrading to the MAX. I never spent any time shooting off a joystick, but hear the fabulous reviews of the unbelievable quality and performance of the SEB products. What are the main adjustments that will change from a non adjustable front to the SEB. Have any of you not liked changing to a joystick?

I got my Seb NEO about a month ago, haven't seen any cons going from a regular rest to the NEO only pros..

return to point of aim is almost 100%, on my older rest it was about 40%.. and being able to adjust with the joystick without moving or risking touching the rifle is amazing.

Tclaunch,

Since you say he is your friend & shooting buddy, so may I assume that you can loan his NEO with ease? - I would suggest you to try his rest by yourself and see if it suits you or not.
No one can give you a definite answer on this matter, including me.
I found that many people like joystick type rest, but some just don't. I can't change that. To me, it's more about preference & how you use & optimizing the function/features of the rests & "adapt?" with new thing. But if you have tried a joystick rest before & liked it, I am (95% +) sure that you will like your friend's NEO. This based on feedback from our customers worldwide.

Just my 2 cents,
seb.

Thanks for the replys, my current front rest is a Hart base mounted to a Hart plate, weighs 48 pounds if I remember. The only adjustment is from a Sinclair speedscrew. I know the joystick will be quicker back to battery as I have always had trouble with this particular issue. I know I must be doing something wrong but my crosshairs are usually 1 to 2 minutes left of center after shooting. I cross fired at the IBS 600 yd Nationals last September from doing this. I hope my bench manners when using the NEO will improve.

I shoot with a Farley and wouldn't have it any other way. Some guys just can't get used to a joy stick. Try it a few times. Don't judge it untill you get used to shooting with it. You may not like it untill you use it a few times. By the way, you definatly have a tracking issue if you are that far off after the shot. Even ear tension on the front bag?

The front ears are fairly loose. I took out sand in front thinking I would be killing verticle issues. Both ears are pretty loose.

Just used the Max for the first time. It's great!
The guns track like a dream. Move it where you want it and it stays there.
The side bags adjust easily to the sides of the rifle providing good support.

That must be something wrong with your setup if your crosshair moves 1 to 2 moa off center after firing, even 1/3 minute already too much for my taste. You may need to check your bags & your shoulder when accept the recoil, is it square enough. Also check how the rifle tracks on the bags slide the rifle back & forth is it vertically perfect, etc. You can't "sacrifice" one factor (loosening the front ears) for other factor (the vertical issue). Try to find which one that really affects the problem. It could also be your stock & rear bag.

Hi Terry,
Glad to know this, Thanks for the update!
If you have some photos of you & your MAX could you please send to sebastianlambang(at)yahoo.com?

Tim,
You definitely need to shim your front reast or something, I am experiencing some issues also with tracking but it is my thumb hole ShaHane stock, I like Bills stocks just not this one.

Seb,
I have a Ken Fulgham rest and really like it, I think if I was in sr br I would want one of yours but I only shoot 1K br and tried a couple joy sticks and didn't care for them,....But ,....I think your op on this thread was as professional of a post as I have read, very good post, If I ever change or feel the need for a joystick I will be giving you a call ;)

That's fine Wayne. I believe that Fulghum rest is a good/great rest, not a "so so" one.
If you feel the need for a joystick rest in the future, just contact me or Ernie or Mike Ratigan.

I also just shot off my MAX for the first time a week ago and it is absolutely amazing. There is no comparison between it and all the others(and I've shot off most)

MAX is the Daddy!

I have both the Neo and the Max, Neo is very good but the max is the evolution!
you would not be disapointed in either.

Thanks for a great rest Seb.

regards froma very cold snowbound UK!

So, is the joystick mechanism the same between the two? Why do people say the Maxx is better? I have access to a Maxx, but since I intend to fly with my rest, I cant afford to get a rest which is too heavy. But then, if the heavy rest is better, maybe I can pack less clothes etc. :)
