Tip on fireforming Dasher brass

Despite using a tight bushing and lots of
jam I still had some rounds that the primer
did not ignite. I switched to Federal Match
205 primers and did not have another mis-fire.
The 205's have a soft cup that is easy to
ignite.
I fireformed 50 pieces of Lapua brass. I did
not have one single piece with a cracked shoulder.
We had a cold front coming through with high
winds. Here are the 50 shots.

The shoulders were almost perfect with one firing.

Glad it worked.

I jammed .030" to fireform mine with no issues.

Ditto. Used virgin, unsized brass, Berger 108s and 30.5gr of Varget.

I am doing a BRX but I jam about .030 and use 30grs of varget with 105s and Fed primers. No problems and nice looking brass.

Some people believe the jam and shoot method
results in a more concentric case than the false
shoulder method. So I have stuck with it.
I'm sure the false shoulder method is fine.

false shoulder and cow here. i baby my barrels and hate using them for fireforming when the cow method, if charged sufficiently, will form the case 95+%...just guessing. the 105 bergers and others are not cheap and the vhitavhouri powders cost more everytime i look.

I'm in the process of forming a batch of brass for a Dasher and have tried both the hard jam and expand/neck size false shoulder methods. Both seem to produce identical brass. I'm using a normal 6BR load of RL15, CCI400 primers and "blem" Hornady 105 Amaxs I got from Midway last year.

I dont waste barrel life, powder or bullets for fireforming. Do it in local F-class shoots. I don't think I would do it in a br match. But accuraccy was good enough for the big F targets.
