Timmney Calvin Elite

Installed a Calvin Elite in my AR 15 and ran about 300 rounds in a weeks time. At first everything went as planned. After about 150 rounds it started shooting two round burst periodically. Pulled the trigger and took it apart and cleaned it. Put it back together and reinstalled. Still doing the same thing periodically. The hammer doesn’t have a very deep groove for the sear to engage but neither does the other Elites that I have installed on other AR’s but they are working fine. Any suggestions?

You will probably find that the hole spacing for the trigger pins is out of spec. As you stated, the sear/hammer engagement on Calvin Elites is minimal and with the trigger pins farther apart the sear/hammer engagement is probably on the ragged a$$ edge of full auto.Be very careful!
If you have another AR that you have a CE in you might try swapping triggers and see if the problem persists in the second AR and if the known good AR develops the same problem with the suspect trigger in it.

Thanks for the info. I will pull it and install it in another AR and see if the problem persists. Also thought about changing the bolt out and trying that. If nothing changes I will give Timmney a call.

Try them right away. I went by Timney mothership today, nice people, fixed me up right away.

The Timney AR trigger do get reel dirty and can fail. The closed design can contribute to keep crud inside. Yours could be a safety issue. I wouldn't hesitate.

I’m going to give them a call. I have others installed that I can use for the remainder of the season. I don’t want to chance it going off when it’s not suppose too.

Do some research on your own, put the suspect trigger in another lower that has a proven good Calvin Elite in it. See if the problem follows or doesn't.
Put the known good Calvin Elite in the suspect lower and see if the CE works as it should.
Process of elimination. Take about an hour?
