This is for the Senior Shooters.
I have been shooting all forms of NRA High Power for years 40 plus, I have hit my 75 Birthday .

Have you had the thought it's the time to retire ?

Sell the Shooting Stuff and Go Fishing ?

It's like the BB King Song "The Thrill is Gone ".

Thanks for Your Input .

At 65, I am finding more reasons not to shoot. It was a long cold winter, have done every thing shooting related I want to do. Not going to sell my stuff. Hoping with warmer weather the the spark may return. The lack of components is keeping many friends on the sidelines. Started coaching high school trap shooters and enjoy that greatly. My sons are now in their 30's and want me to buy some land and a cabin, so that search is on. Maybe going back to my roots as a hunter could be the answer. Hunting, fishing, making fire woods and land improvements could be a new direction. Don I hope you find something to spark your passion in the near future. Hope the time never comes for you when you don't have any interests.

Here's the opposite view.

Charles Greer, age 83, shoots the smallest 1000-yard HG group in history (once verified). This was also a perfect 100-10X, the only 100-10X shot at 1000 EVER in BR competition with the tiny 3" X-ring.

Never too old boys and girls!
Never too old...

Nothing wrong with doing a bit of fishing, come out to the range when you feel like shooting.

Up to a certain point, age has little to do with it. It all depends on your health and desire. I'll be 76 in June, (if I make it that far) and I had been losing some interest in shooting but, not stopping! Your health dictates everything. We are all going to get old...The trick is to get old and stay healthy!

I'm 74 and looking forward to the World Long Range Shooting Championships in South Africa in 2023. The fire still burns and I have a great group of people to shoot with. As long as the eyes hold out (using iron sights) I'm good to go. I have given some thought as to what will happen after the Worlds, maybe I'll reduce it to occasional matches or something. Strangely enough I've also given some thought to selling some guns and buying a fishing boat to spend the last days on Randleman Lake.

He hasn't lost his passion for the sport. :)

I'm 63 and have been retired for 2 years. I'm in good health and still enjoy shooting very much. I am passionate about reloading and shooting small groups. I spend about 18 to 20 hours a week in my reloading room and shoot once a week, weather permitting. I'm still loving it.

I think you hit a point I am missing ! The people I run into at some times . Makes me wish I stayed Home .

Do what is fun. If it ain't, why do it?

Fishing can be fun, along w many other things. A farmer's pond is 2 clicks down the road. I play a little Bridge, Euchre, occasional board game w son who probably has 75 or so on the shelf, a bit of volunteer work, pump a bit of iron, Scrabble w my wife.... Listen to books on the statewide setup my Library has.
Heavy on Lee Child, Grisham, James Lee Burke, some first hand 'Nam accounts, watch Johnny Carson reruns nightly.
Oh yeah, shoot bench, pistol (w a class by Gunsite scheduled for Sep), reload, thinking about a wildcat that hasn't been too heavily explored - that I can see......LIFE IS GOOD.

I'll be 75 later this year and have slowed down alot. Wartime injuries, plane crash, multiple bike and car crashes from a fast-livin' life have taken their toll on this old body. However, even though now humping the elk mountains is not in the cards any more, I find that I get about as much joy from spending a week in the Oregon outback shooting ground squirrels with like-minded friends is about as good as it gets now.

A day in a rich alfalfa field sitting at my bench in the sunshine, good friends to share it with, wicked accurate rifle in the bags and a plentiful supply of not so willing rodents is just icing on the proverbial cake. Then hours spent in the gun room upon returning from the field prepping and reloading all that fired brass.

Yes Loretta, I'm a confirmed old gun nut, always will be. There's nothing like the smell of fresh burnt gunpowder in the morning!

Oh yeah, sometimes I go fishing too.......
