how long do you typically get to shoot your string of 20 in an f-class competition?

Typically you will get unlimited sighting shots and 20 rounds for record in a time limit of 30 minutes.
So if you take a lot of sighters, you can be squeezed for time for your record shots!

It's usually 1 min. per round in Slow Fire, I posted the NRA Rule Book for you on one of your other posts....download it and READ the WHOLE thing, not just Section 22 F-Class, as the Complete Rule Book pertains to any High power Match.

Remember too your "effective" time is not only what's ticking off on the clock but also how good your target puller is in getting your shots marked & your target back up promptly. Obviously this doesn't apply to electronically scored targets where available.

Given that F-Class matches often see target centers being shot out pretty quick, a puller with better skills at finding a shot to mark among all the loose pasters in the X-ring will help the shooter.

Same conditions apply to those who shoot slung up of course, but that the target area is larger for each ring makes the task a bit less fretful under pressure.

10 seconds (or less!) down and up is excellent service, 12 - 15 seconds more the average. Anything 20 or over needs work.

Working the Pit is as challenging as shooting the target. ;D It's all fun. A day of F-Class shooting keeps you involved.

I entirely agree! I look forward as much to giving good target service as I do to shooting my relays. Whether you're making holes in your target (once in awhile maybe one in somebody else's too - whoops!) or scoring another shooter's, both activities are what the sport is all about & hence worth your best effort.

Going to one the 14th. Never went before. Should be an experience. Want to improve for ground hog season next year. Figure that's a good way to do it.
